About Temple:

Pilgrims to Kanyakumari from north can often be heard to say that the religious fragrance freezy in the air around here is so exciting that they are conjured to visit this holy place before proceeding any further.

It is not mere words that will rapture the holiness of this religious place. Dharmapathi holds out an ancient steeped religious symbolism of Lord Rama visit, Shedding light to devotees with blessings for peace and prosperity as it may be visible to the devouteyes has to be personally experienced, in much the divine grace which being the goal of life is achieved here at Jadayutheertham where Jadayu attained salvation at the feet of Lord Rama during His sojourn enroute to Lanka.
The greatest glory of this religious place is the two imposing elegant temples established successively. The earlier one is in praise of Lord Sriman Narayanan presiding as Lord Etteluthu Perumal (Abbreviation). The subsequent one is to usher the splendor of Lord Krishna. The idol in these two temples are not mere object of workship. They are elegant, indeed powerful, flashng blindingly bright lights as that of lightening. The conviction among the religious circle is that a deity which has an omnipotent creativeness is also omnipotenet and therefore cannot be accounted in words to create an impact.

Sri Sthanumalayan Temple – Susindram

History of the Susindram temple:
Sage Athiri and his consort Anusuya were leading a holy life in Susindram performing penance. The sage left for Himalayas for a short while. During his absence, the three Murthys Brahmma, Vishnu and Shiva visited Anusuya asking for food. When Anusuya began feeding them that they could not accept her hospitality as she was wearing clothes. Sensing their mind, Anusuya spilled on them the water with which her husband’s feet were washed and the Gods became children. She breast fed them, put them in a cradle and made them sleep. The consorts of the Murthys, Saraswathi, Mahalakshmi and Parvathi came in search of their husbands and begged Anusuya to return them in their true forms. Anusuya obliged. The temple was built in memory of this incident installing the three Murthys in one form.

The mantras were the tools, which were used by the sages to free the world from sufferings. "mantaram trayate iti mantra" mantras are mystic syllables that free the chanter from inflictions. In the Vaishnava agamas the Sudharsana mantra is a very prominent one. The Sudharsana Chakra or the divine disc of Maha Vishnu is one of the Lords prominent weapons in annihilating evil forces.
